Startup Skool’s Program Manager, running the University of British Columbia camps, is one adventurous spirit. Before entering the British Columbia Institute of Technology to earn her Bachelor of Business Administration, Heather traveled the world working as a fashion model. She’ll now be changing gears and serving as a role model to any Startup Skool participant in her programs!
Heather grew up in Deep Cove, North Vancouver, hiking the local trails and dodging jellyfish while jumping off docks. Consequently, her connection to the natural world began forming at a very young age. Her love of the ocean, in particular, has materialized in the form of a local jewelry brand (check out karenjess.com!) she cofounded with her sister, known for its delicate silver and bronze cast seashells from around the world.
Recently, Heather has been volunteering as a literacy volunteer in schools. This experience allowed her to discover an interest in working with kids and learning from their wild imaginations. She is excited to be inspired by some out-of-the-box thinkers at Startup Skool, as she works hard to create a fun camp environment that both supports and celebrates kid innovations!
As a passionate storyteller, if she were a participant in Startup Skool’s Innovation Camp she would create an app to share this skill with others. Perhaps some campers will be able to collaborate to turn this idea into reality! No matter what happens this summer, Heather will be channeling her inner surfer and going with the flow. Welcome to Startup Skool Heather, hop on board and enjoy the ride.
