Nick Kobald
Hi I’m Nick! I can be found all over Victoria. You’re most likely to catch me hanging out with friends at coffee shops or the board game cafe, up Mt Doug on a hike, or hiding out on the third floor of the library during exams. The skill you might not guess I have is that I am (a self-proclaimed) excellent cook.
What excites you about entrepreneurship? Through an entrepreneurial attitude, we’re able to achieve goals and create the change we want to see, where otherwise it might be impossible. So many children and young adults have visions that tackle issues that are noble and necessary. Their goals include dealing with issues such as illiteracy, education, LGBT rights (and so many more). To me, it is the entrepreneurial attitude that will allow them to create an environment where vital impact is possible.
If you could start any business in the world with nothing standing in your way, what would it be? An issue I’ve always cared deeply about is literacy in children in both my local and global community. In this dream world, I would want to put a solar-powered Kindle in the hands of every child in the world. Downloaded with books and textbooks for all reading levels. Actually, hold on, this is a really good idea, I need to make some calls…
What attracted you to working with Startup Skool? Getting to spend a month talking about the things that get me super excited like science, technology, and entrepreneurship for weeks at a time? Sign me up! But a bit more seriously, I really enjoying work with youth of all ages, and getting to do that at the same time as sharing my passion for technology and computer science is incredible.
Give us a fun fact about yourself! I’ve spent most of this summer trying to teach a computer to play a board game. The computer is now better than me at the board game. Such is life.
